To Travel is to Live

One of my all time favorite things to do is travel. We usually try to see at least one new country and one new U.S. city each year, and last year we checked out two U.S. cities (St. Augustine and San Francisco - Wine Country) without any new stamps on the passport so I'm determined to break it back out this year.

Booked

We haven't done much planning or research yet for 2018, but we do have a beach house booked with friends who will be bringing along their toddler for a joint family beach weekend in Siesta Key. Living in Florida for over 7 years, and believe it or not I still have not been to what is considered the most beautiful beach in the continental U.S. Can't wait!

Preliminary Planning

Our preliminary plans that we've tossed around are another weekend in a new U.S. city as a family or just the 2 of us, and an international tropical vacay just the 2 of us while my mom watches lil' miss which she always jumps at the chance for. It's a win-win. We get much needed couple time, and Serena gets quality nana time.

U.S. Cities on our mind

Denver - a Rockies game, hiking, some brewery hopping, and of course Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Nashville - this would be an adults only trip so we can take in the live music and pop in and out of bars along the way.

International Beaches and Resorts on our mind

Costa Rica - Beaches, hiking, waterfalls, zip lining, and beautiful resorts? Yes please!

Turks and Caicos - Ever since we missed our cruise stop a few years ago and wrote off sailing with Carnival ever again (a full recap on their deplorable customer service can be found here), we've been itching to check out this beautiful island. Check out that water!

Of course we always have cruising on the mind as well. We'd love to check out a new to us Royal Caribbean ship or finally check out Princess or Celebrity.

Emily and I have also been talking about a girls trip to Charleston since it's within driving distance and neither of us have ever been. If you'd like to join, let us know!

Traveling in style, but remaining comfortable is also key. I used to show up to the airport in the comfiest clothes possible, which left me sometimes looking frumpier than I would have liked. I now tend to reach for comfy dresses or cozy chic pieces like leggings over jeans, because who wants to wear jeans on a long flight?

I can't rave enough about this dress (which now comes in 6 colors, and I kind of want them all)! It's super flattering, and was insanely comfortable for a cross-country flight to San Francisco and hitting the ground running site seeing as soon as we checked in and dropped off our luggage. And as if you haven't heard me talk about my favorite rose gold Superstars they were perfect for running through airports and climbing the giant hills. FYI size down as they run pretty large.

My fav faux leather leggings are also super comfy for traveling, and sitting for long periods of time. They can be easily dressed up or down with a pair of slip ons or a fabulous pair of heels once you get to your destination and want to check out a great place to eat or grab a drink.

Rosé and Shine

I hadn't stopped thinking about this fun graphic sweatshirt since Biana shared it a few weeks ago. It's so soft, and can be dressed up or down. And the best part is - it's less than $18! I wish more days could be filled with rosé and shine, don't you?

Loving Lately

My favorite rose gold superstars are back in stock. Run don't walk to scoop up these beauties, as they sell out super quick! They're super comfy for lots of walking while site seeing or just adding a casual flair to your favorite dress or skirt.
Loving Lately

I've been using NARS Creamy Concealer for a few years, but was looking out for a great dupe since it's $30 a tube (definitely worth it, but if I can find a cheaper equivalent I'm game). On a recent trip to Ulta to visit the Benefit Brow Bar (which btw is my new go-to for getting my eyebrows done, and I'm a bit overdue right now - it's worth every.single.penny.) I decided to pick up this concealer for $5 and see if it would be a good dupe. So far I'm loving it, and I've saved $25!

I got these slippers in rose gold for Christmas, and I can't rave enough about how cozy and warm they are. And because rose gold.

I've been living in these mesh leggings which are less than $24 right now plus free shipping! They can be dressed up or down, and are just as fabulous for lounging.

I typically bring my coffee with me to the office each morning, and was in desperate need of a new travel mug. You know when they start to get that smell... yep that was my old mug. This travel mug was the perfect replacement, and who can resist a fun saying?

Believe it or not, it has been pretty cold in the sunshine state this past week and all the warm clothing pieces that usually only get broken out a few days a year have been on serious repeat. This sparkly beanie has been a new favorite of mine this year, and is keeping my head and ears nice and warm.

Laced Up and Sparkling

I love that this Michael Kors top was fun and festive for the holidays, but gives the perfect amount of subtle sparkle for the ugh feeling that is January. I'm just frustrated because it was such a fabulous find, and I can't find it anywhere online even on Nordstrom Rack's website considering I scooped it up in their store just last week. I'll definitely post an update if I see this piece pop up again!

I did however, find a fabulous MK lace-up shift dress here that is similar and perfect for the colder months over tights.

Pop Fizz Clink

Happy 2018! I'm fresh off a super refreshing end of year break which was so good for the soul, and am ready for all the fun and hopefully lots of travels 2018 is ready to throw my way. Get ready for a picture heavy post....

The Friday before Christmas, we had a day date which was the first time in a very long time that we were able to be out just the 2 of us. I've had time with the girls, and he's had time with the guys but we haven't had couple time without lil' miss in months. We did some shopping, checked out a new lunch spot Teak Orlando Grill which had the most amazing gourmet burgers, and stopped for another cocktail at one of our favorite bars.

On Christmas Eve-Eve, we took Serena to see more Christmas lights. She loved that these lights "danced" to the music.

Christmas was cozy and full of fun gifts and family time, and one of my favorite surprises was this champagne bucket. Considering my love of bubbles, I should have had one a long time ago. I can't get over how pretty it is! No more going back and forth to the fridge for re-fills, because lazy.

Serena was spoiled to pieces, and got a new slide, car, lots of adorable new clothes, books, fun toys, and even a ball pit. She also received this adorable handmade mermaid doll along with her pet seahorse appropriately called Mr. Bubbles, accessories, pillow, and blanket from my talented momma (this whole set is available in her Etsy Shop).

The day after Christmas was picture perfect outside, so we took Serena for a nice walk around the lake and stopped for drinks and apps to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the views. I wore my favorite new graphic sweatshirt that I hadn't stopped thinking about since Biana shared it a few weeks ago. It's so soft, and can be dressed up or down. Best part is it's less than $18!

I also caught Serena's cold, and can't rave enough about the Medicine Ball Cold Buster drink from Starbucks' secret menu. It's a mixture of citrus and mint teas with extra hot water and steamed lemonade with some honey for anti-microbial affects. I'm now a believer, it definitely helped!

I felt better in time for a girls night with Pamela to catch up over pedicures and of course bubbles.

New Year's Eve was spent at a friend's house over good food, bubbles, fire pit time, and lots of laughs. It's safe to say I will be on the healthy eating train for a few weeks while I try to detox from all the holiday consumption. No more dessert and bubbles every day *tear*.

New Year's Day was spent cozy in pj's watching the parade and football which was perfect with the cold drizzly weather outside.
