Relaxing Weekending

Relaxing Weekending

I'm very happy to report that I finally had a relaxing weekend, and Tropical Storm Erika ended up losing it's strength thankfully which means we are all safe and sound here in the "sunshine" state. I enjoyed some much-needed couch time, did some shopping, wine tasting, and gave the house a deep cleaning.
The rain ruined my Happy Hour on the patio and in the pool plans on Friday, but that didn't stop me from enjoying more Sparkling Skinny Girl Margarita in my birthday martini glass. Better late than never right? The rest of the evening was spent with competitive games of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Some of those stars are not easy to get....
Saturday, I was up bright and early to head off to Express for their jeans sale and to Target before spending the afternoon in the pool with my new pretty floatie.
*I picked up a pair of these Stella skinnies*
Then it was time for some fun in the pool with my new flamingo floatie from Emily. She's absolutely perfect, and I decided to name her Rose (like the champs).
After floating away on Rose for a while, I got ready to go out to the Wine Room to sample wines with a gift card I had gotten from a friend for my birthday. And because wine and cheese - YUM!

On Sunday, I did an outfit shoot downtown before the rain moved in, and was finally able to get some cleaning done around the house and enjoy movies on the couch. Perfection!

Friday Favs

Friday Favs

Happy Friday! I am very much looking forward to a relaxing weekend with absolutely zero plans! After all the fun from birthday weekends parts one and two, I'm ready to unwind and float around the pool and reunite with my couch for some good ol' fashioned Netflix binges.
Favorite Presents - I'm still over the moon by all the thoughtful gifts and cards from friends and family for my birthday, I sure was spoiled. Plus, I finally got my Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. I purchased one when they were first released last month, but it was for a giveaway. So this one is all mine!
One of my favs was the giant pink flamingo pool float from Emily - ahhh LOVE!

Favorite Workout - I needed a good butt-kicking workout, so I went to my favorite Barre3 studio, and I felt amazing afterwards. I love that burns-so-good soreness afterwards, and I feel ready to take on the world!
Favorite Event - I helped organize our "Kickoff to Football" party at work which was last night, and it was a success! Lots of yummy food and great times with co-workers.

Tales from the Windy City

I'm over at Jenn's today talking about my trip to Chicago last year with Emily. Hop on over and say hi! Such an amazing city that I can't wait to grace with my presence again!
Happy Friday Eve! I'll be back tomorrow with my favs from this week.

Some Sunshine for the Rain

Some Sunshine for the Rain

With all the rain we've been experiencing lately in the so-called sunshine state it was high time I purchased a nice raincoat to help keep me dry in the storms. I picked up this raincoat during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last month, and even though it's way too warm to wear it right now I'm excited to pack it for my trip to CT in the fall, and to rock it during any rainstorms once it cools off around here.

One recipe I always know I'll make is my aunt's pasta salad which was my absolute fav at every family picnic growing up:
~ 1 lb. of rotini pasta cooked and drained
~ 1-2 cans of chunk light tuna
~ 3 stalks of celery including the inner leaves
~ 2-3 tsp. course ground pepper
~ 1 and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
~ 1/3 cup of dried parsley flakes
~ 8 oz. of sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
~ 1/2 red onion, chopped
Mix all the ingredients together and refrigerate any leftovers.
